Taylor Swift, in full Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13 1989 West Reading Pennsylvania U.S.) American pop and country music singer-songwriter whose tales of youthful heartache earned her widespread popularity in the first decade of the 21st century. Swift started to exhibit an enthusiasm for the industry of music at a young age. Swift's career grew rapidly beyond the roles of children's entertainers, through her first appearance on stage in crowds of people. At the age of 11, she performed The Star-Spangled Banner before a Philadelphia 76ers basketball match and in the next year, she picked up the guitar and started writing songs. Swift was inspired by artists from the country genre, such as Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks as well as the Chicks in order to write original music that expressed the apathy she experienced by the age of 13. When she was 13 Swift's parents decided to sell their farm in Pennsylvania to move to Hendersonville Tennessee so she could dedicate more time in courting the country music labels within the vicinity of Nashville.
